Disa

I listened to your webcast, once I got my Window machine running
with IE. Nice job. Thanks for the tip you dropped on Snippits,
and how to write for them with specific keyword phrase etc. This
may make a good topic to write about in the future.

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt,

Great to meet you at PubCon and thanks for tuning in.

The platform does favor IE, and I had to use it myself (I rarely
use that app these days). I do anticipate writing more about the
magic snippet trick. In fact, I had mentioned during the Webcast
the concept was first popularized by Heather Lloyd Martin. I
have SearchReturn interview questions in to her asking a little
about the time when she came up with the idea.

I was actually engaging there with her as she came up with it
after asking me how snippets were powered. My questions are
specific to her thinking process at the time which was great to
watch and I learned a lot then and there.

I think our recalling that experience for SearchReturn will be
instructive for readers because her methods come from the fact
that she is a bona fide writer. Her way of intentionally writing
with snippets in mind now comes natural after six years of SEO
copywriting that way. She is the best person to bring across.

I anticipate her interview will come in the first series of
issues after the Holiday break.

Stay tuned,
SearchReturn

"As much as 85% of the search spend ends up in PPC, while as many
as 6 out of 7 ecommerce clicks originate from natural rankings."

From: David Dalka

What is the source of this?

SearchReturn: The actual figure is 86% of the search spend in
North America over the course of 2006. That was a breakdown of
$9.45 billion in spend where $8 billion was for PPC. The rest
was organic and 4% Paid Inclusion. The source was a survey of
the SEMPO member constituency.

The 6 of 7 clicks originating from natural for ecommerce, is a
statistic which comes from Jupiter Research presented at SES in
New York 2005.

Stay tuned,
SearchReturn
