==> Google Buys YouTube

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/061009-162802

Essentials: Google paid $1.6 billion in cash and stock for
YoutTube, effectively purchasing eyeballs for their previously
limited video advertising platform. This confirms Google's intent
to enter into other media ad formats than the highly successful
text-based search ads. Buying YouTube is a bet they can make
video ads work with the experience and user exposure YouTube
brings to the table.

==> Coca-Cola Does Reputation Management

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/061009-100727

Essentials: One way to counter bad press, is to use search
marketing to get your side of a story in front of those that
search for related info. Buying search advertising to counter-
spin bad press is a solid immediate response approach. Coca-Cola
had a court case against them dismissed recently, and they went
ahead and used this tactic to get the word out that the case
against them was dismissed. A look at the creative contains this
message even without the need for users to click.

==> About That Fake Post

http://ejohn.org/files/google-call.gif

Essentials: Google had only just posted on how they highly regard
security issues and keep the bad guys out of their system. A
Google Blogger software bug allowed a fake entry to publish at
the Official Google Blog directly afterwards. The posting
pretended to announce the canceling of Google's Click-to-Call
service, mentioning (in part) eBay as the reason. This shows a
how a user can access Blogger and post as though they were a real
Googler, for the time being effectively allowing a bad person in.
The post was promptly removed (but not until after screen shots).
