==> Yahoo! Distributed Via Acer

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/bb386d1a-434b-11db-9574-0000779e2340.html

Essentials: In a new agreement struck between Yahoo! and computer
maker Acer, the Yahoo! toolbar and custom page will load as the
original default in Microsoft's IE7 browser. Microsoft has taken
heat from Google about the default search in IE7 going to the
Microsoft owned service, and Microsoft countered that they will
allow computer makers to change preferences.

This is the first announcement specifically mentioning IE7, even
while Google has a distribution deal with Google that will likely
include the IE7 default when computers ship with that browser.
Acer ships as many as 10 million new computers per year, though
Dell ships four times as many. This still gives Yahoo! a nice
distribution channel as the competition increases between the big
three.

==> Google AdWords Through Quickbooks

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/060913-145935

Essentials: Late last year, Google announced a download for a
Beta software campaign manager that would allow users to manage
AdWords offline and synchronize when connected. It follows that
a software maker with a large install base could strike up a deal
and Intuit did just that with Quickbooks.

Users of the newly released Quickbooks 2007 will be able to
manage their AdWords campaign directly from within the software,
and upload local conact information to populate Google Maps
(Local).

There are additional integration facilities for users with Google
Desktop, where Quickbooks data can be accessed and searched right
from the desktop.

==> Site Search Needs Attention

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/060913-085905

Essentials: Users that land at your website knowing you have what
they're looking for, don't always hit the best page. They can
usually tell within a blink of an eye that they aren't quite at
the right place, and if they don't hit the back button because
they are worried about navigating your site, they often turn to
your site search engine. If you don't analyze your site search
queries, it is time to pay attention. The number of queries may
far exceed the number of searches for your keywords in the Web
search engines.

Although the estimates may be high, site search use is relatively
common. If you offer it, make sure it works. The number of
searchers that are savvy enough to use the advanced syntax at
search engines are tiny, and it is more likely that you are
frustrating users trying to find what they believe you have.
Pleasing these users is a humongous opportunity considering the
investment of time, energy and financial means to attract the
visit in the first place.

==> Yahoo! Mobile Ad Deal

http://www.imediaconnection.com/news/11191.asp

Essentials: Bango, a company that offers mobile analytics for
advertisers, announced a distribution deal with Yahoo!. Bango is
to offer Yahoo! to content providers and track performance
through its mobile analytics tools. Yahoo! Search Marketing will
also make Bango analytics available through their platform.
Mobile is a serious growth area for the search industry, and it's
only a matter of time before its popularity reaches critical
mass.
