==> End Of An Era

http://daggle.com/060829-112950.html

Danny Sullivan has remained the focal point of the search
marketing and search news industry ever since ushering it in with
A Webmaster's Guide To Search Engines ten years ago. The site
that ultimately became Search Engine Watch has been since sold
twice, and Danny continued in service to the new owners.

In 1999, Danny (and then owner Jupiter Media) launched the
successful Search Engine Strategies conference series. Search
Engine Strategies saw a meteoric rise in attendance as search
skyrocketed in use, and search marketing came of age. It was at
this new level of success the website and conference series was
sold once again.

Incisive Media purchased Search Engine Watch and Search Engine
Strategies last year, but failed to come to agreement for
renewing Danny's contract (which is due to expire in December
this year). Danny announced his departure, which undoubtedly
represents a huge change for himself, and a shocking change for
the entire industry.

Danny has an exciting future whatever he chooses to do. Since
Danny is the primary draw for the conference series, and (fueled
by his personality), Search Engine Watch remains a tremendous
force in the industry, these properties will sense the loss from
lack of Danny's contributions for many years to come - even as
they continue to operate successfully.

==> Yahoo! Go For Mobile

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=6600

Essentials: Yahoo! Go for Mobile is a download that offers easy
access to Yahoo! search, email and other services. The service is
newly available ported to Microsoft platforms for mobile
including Smartphone and PocketPC.

The launch also saw the announcement of a distribution deal with
device manufacturers to feature Yahoo! Go for Mobile in default
installations on their products as they ship.

==> MSN ContentAds Pilot

http://www.jensense.com/archives/2006/08/msn_adcenter_in.html

Essentials: Microsoft has invited a select group of advertisers
into a pilot for serving text ads initially on Microsoft owned
properties MSN Money and Real Estate. This is the first
indication that the software giant is planning a full contextual
advertising network as its rival in search (Google) has.

Yahoo! Publisher Network has been in pilot for nearly a year.
Coming so soon after the launch of AdCenter, the move by
Microsoft may reveal that the software maker is short on search
inventory to sell.
