==> To Google, Or Not To Google

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,9075-2317110,00.html

Essentials: The word "google" has been added to two dictionaries
as a transitive verb since its popularity to generally describe
search activity. Google legal has major problems with the use of
the word, and we may start seeing a reduction of its use in the
media as legal actions pick up in an attempt to protect the
Google trademark.

During the Eric Schmidt keynote discussion with Danny Sullivan,
Danny asked Eric how he uses the word, and Eric responded with a
reference to the legal department protecting the name, and
appropriately added the word "search" after Google. Google legal
will have a difficult time preventing the popular use of the
word, and they seek to do so because they would dislike the word
going the way Xerox came to describe copying using any brand
copier - not only Xerox machines.

==> Google Maps Valpak Coupons

http://www.searchreturn.com/digest/refs084.shtml

Essentials: Google Maps, formerly known as local, will now
feature Valpak coupons in the US. This deal is interesting in
that it follows that Google having purchased dMarc Broadcasting
to allow small and medium businesses to use the Google
advertising platform, now can offer the same advertisers to use
the platform to offer printable coupons alongside local search.

For example, if you search [pizza] in your area, you will find
businesses pinpointed on the map and a matching coupon below.
Valpak mails out 45 million coupon envelopes on a monthly basis
and comes to the deal with a large base of local businesses
already advertising. More than 20,000 coupons will launch online
with Google.

==> Yahoo! Ads Served With Go2 Mobile Search

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/060816-093457

Essentials: Mobile Yellow Page directory service Go2 has signed
with Yahoo! to integrate Yahoo! ads with search results pages.
Although there are concerns about ads on mobile phones as
intrusive because people think of their phones intimately as a
more personal device than a full machine, ads on a search result
page for the Yellow Page directory service can make sense. Mobile
search has not reached critical mass, but is certainly a growing
area.
