==> SES San Jose

Essentials: A big congratulations to Danny Sullivan with USA
Today business section coverage. Mainstream press of search
marketing continues to expand and reach new heights.

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/060802-104044

We will be at Search Engine Strategies San Jose next week and
will return to our normal publishing schedule directly
afterwards. If industry news at that time is light enough for a
formal recap, look forward to comments about the happenings.
If you are headed to San Jose, we wish you safe travels and we'll
see you there!

Stay tuned.

==> New Yahoo! Slurp

"Expect shuffling of your page results as the old crawler is shut
down in favor of the new one."

From: Ed Last From: Ed Last

Disa,

It's a shame Yahoo! got their act together. We used to have the
top 6 (literally listings 1 to 6) on the Yahoo! SERPS for a very
competitive travel keyword. Now they are nowhere to be seen on
Yahoo!. It was good business while it lasted!

Regards,
Ed

==> Google Distribution Deal With XM Satellite Radio

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/060802-084907

Essentials: Planned for release in the 4th quarter this year,
Google is making good on the dMarc acquisition of earlier this
year. It's possible with this deal that Google can show a
measure of quick success outside text-based ads. XM has 7 million
listeners, although the ads will initially get played only on
nonmusic channels.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

==> Microsoft AdCenter Upgrades August 5th

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/060801-125337

Essentials: Microsoft AdCenter will finally be accessible to
Firefox users, although you will want the latest version and it
remains unclear if all the features of the ad platform will work
with the widely used browser. Microsoft extended technologies,
namely ActiveX may prevent complete access to all that's
available with Internet Explorer.

Other upgrades slated for the Saturday upgrade include faster
data publishing (an hourly schedule) good for active campaign
optimization, user-interface upgrades and new API specs for
developers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

==> Bloglines Exclusion Protocol

http://www.bloglines.com/about/specs/fac-1.0

Essentials: For private syndicated content like that of private
personal blogs, Bloglines (Ask) has proposed a new Exclusion
Protocol. A Namespace Declaration coupled with an access element
identifies a feed channel as private (to be excluded from search
engines). This feature makes a lot of sense, and may usher in a
"make this blog private" feature in future versions of software.
