==> New Local Ads
https://adwords.google.com/select/localbusinessads.html
Essentials: Google has introduced ads to its local search index.
Local searches produce maps and pins that locate local businesses
that match the query. Up to three ads will now supplement the map
when advertisers match keywords and location. You can see how the
sponsored listings appear at the Google information page.

==> Google Extends Its Lead
http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3595981
Essentials: At the expense of Yahoo! and MSN, Google continues to
dominate as the leading search engine. Extending its lead during
the month of February, Google remains clearly the one to beat.
Another report shows Google (when combined with Baidu) fully
dominating in China as well.

==> Visual Search Engine
http://news.com.com/2100-1032_3-6057317.html
Essentials: A new search engine that indexes RSS to gather images
and Meta data uses AJAX (a combination of JavaScript and XML).
Called Pixsy, the site has experienced network trouble due to a
heavy influx of traffic since the announcement. The search engine
is focused on using the data to deliver a visual image-based
search product. They plan to offer CPA deals and other placements
for advertisers. Ultimately, the apparent goal is to license the
technology.
