==> TOPIC: LOCAL SEARCH TACTICS

From: SearchReturn

Hello everyone,

No doubt local search is going to be hot. It already is hot and
getting hotter. Major search engines all have local search
offerings. TrueLocal launched a new design today, and refer to
having a 50 million page index. The search engine works well,
offers related searches, and backfills sponsored listings that
are powered by Yahoo! and tracked by Did-It.

Traditional things that result in listings for local search
matches at most local search engines, are hosting pages with
properly formatted address information, and especially visiting
the local search engine to complete a company profile so that
keywords are available for local search matches. There is
tremendous opportunity for local advertisers, (even for those
without a website), to get listed in local search and get
referrals, including by telephone.

SEO firms can round out their services and operate on the premise
of offering local search advertising services for merchants, even
on a pay-per-call basis, by listing the businesses with local
engines and managing the profile information to match valuable
queries. How many small businesses do you know with a telephone
number, but no website... ? Have you ever considered offering
local specific SEO services?

Stay tuned.

==> Google Analytics

http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/google-analytics/

Essentials: With Urchin having been acquired by Google some time
ago, offering it free of cost as Google Analytics will give
Google a potentially massive user install-base. This gives Google
the metaphoric stethoscope that listens to the heartbeat of the
Web. The stats they are going to accumulate is going to be highly
valuable to the company from here.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

==> Yahoo! Update Underway

http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000213.html

Essentials: The Yahoo! update should be mostly complete at this
point. Adjustments will only be made according to feedback that
requires action. You may discover your rankings have shifted, and
or that new pages have been added to the Yahoo! index.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

==> Industry Specific Metrics

http://www.google.com/ads/metrics.html

Essentials: Industry specific breakdown of metrics, tips for ad
performance optimization, and case studies from Google and Google
advertisers. The page is newly discovered, though currently has a
last mod date of November 3, indicating that it's been up for at
least the last two weeks.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

==> Yahoo! Strategy

http://www.searchreturn.com/digest/refs015.shtml

Essentials: Social search is certainly happening, and it appears
key to Yahoo!'s strategy for the future. Yahoo! is hard at work
leveraging those strategies.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

==> Google Ads In Print

http://www.searchreturn.com/digest/refs015.shtml

Essentials: Google tested ads in print a while ago, publishing
ads in two computer magazines. This test is about publishing ads
in Chicago newspapers.
